WHO WE ARE:

Communities In Schools of Clark County (CISCC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to link community resources that are needed to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.  In 2005 we received a CAPE grant from the Lilly Endowment that allowed us to expand the programs and services we provide.  Our main goal is to help make sure the basic needs of students are being met so that they can be successful in school.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM CATHY:

EXTENDED DAY LEARNING OFFERED IN GREATER CLARK COUNTY SCHOOLS

Welcome to Communities In Schools of Clark County!  The past year has been full of exciting growth which has allowed CISCC to bring new and expanded programs to elementary school students throughout the Clark County area.  Now, in addition to vision screenings; 3,2,1 READ mentoring program; academic tutoring; therapy; and case management for students and families, CISCC will be offering Extended Day Learning after-school child care and academic enrichment in every Greater Clark County elementary school.

Extended Day Learning is open to any child in grades K-6 that attends a Greater Clark County elementary or middle school.  Before school from 6:30 a.m and after school from dismissal to 6pm, students will take part in a variety of activities including: homework time / homework assistance, after-school 3,2,1 READ Mentoring program, physical education, BrainPOP web-based learning & ISTEP testing preparation; and a wealth of enrichment programs including guest speakers and programs from local organizations ( science center, police / fire, humane society, etc.), drama / theatre programs, service learning, arts & crafts, music,Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other exciting hands-on experiences.  The program will take place at the child’s neighborhood elementary school.

CISCC’s mission is to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.  The Extended Day Learning program is designed to do just that – provide a safe, fun, academically-rich atmosphere for children to spend those crucial few hours before and after-school when parents must be at work.  As an affiliate of the nationally recognized drop-out prevention organization, Communities In Schools, CISCC holds itself to the very highest standards when it comes to taking care of our communities most valuable assets – our youth.

Sincerely,
Cathy Graninger
Executive Director
